A fictional world is still a system.
BWMTS is not just a manuscript. It is an interconnected body of information: countries, characters, political structures, divine systems, timelines, narrative arcs, visual references and evolving canon. Every addition creates dependencies elsewhere, so the project requires the same kind of consistency thinking used in knowledge bases or complex product documentation.
Canon & continuity
I maintain structured references for characters, locations, timelines and story logic so that new material stays compatible with what already exists. That means tracking details at both the scene level and the world level, then resolving contradictions before they spread.
Separating canon into usable categories instead of relying on memory or scattered notes.
Tracking political, divine and character relationships so cause and effect remain coherent.
Iterative drafting, tone consistency, continuity checks and revision across long-form material.
Maintaining a coherent mood, world identity and design language around the text.
What I learned
Large creative projects become much easier to manage once they stop living as “ideas” and start living as systems. Clear naming, reliable references, version awareness and deliberate structure make ambitious writing more scalable without flattening the creative part.
